Dear Friends, January 2021
It’s Camp Time Again!
Even in Covid times, we know that children need to share, grow, learn and have fun, while staying safe! Did you go to camp as a child? Then you understand how important this program is to kids! Some are low income, others homeless or at risk.
If no Covid, we can offer a week of either day camp or resident camp. Children are given an opportunity to try new things, meet new people, and develop positive self-images while developing their social and leadership skills. They come back refreshed and ready to tackle the future!
If Covid, restrictions are in place, we will advise the family how camp will be held and give direction on attendance.
Burbank Coordinating Council has sponsored a Campership Program since 1936, which allows children ages 6-18, to attend a week at resident or day-camp. All families must meet federal low-income guidelines and are required to provide proof of income to determine eligibility. Each family is asked to contribute $10 for day-camp or $25 for a resident camp.
With our discounts, your gift of $250 will send one child to camp or send several at $250 each!
We use all accredited camps including: Golden State Gymnastics, YMCA, Generation DCD, Camp Edwards, Forest Home and more. We also use an LGBTQ leadership camp called Brave Trails!
Children return and send us thank you letters telling us what a “special time” they had and how they “feel better about themselves” from the experience. They come back with GREAT BIG SMILES and good memories to last a lifetime!
This year our fundraising efforts are a bit different and present us with only PayPal online, cash/check donations received by mail options. In order for us to raise as much money possible to send as many kids as possible to camp, we are asking you for help with a donation gift of $500.00 - $1,000.00. If you are unable to make that kind of donation we certainly understand and invite you to give what you can. It’s been an especially trying time for many families and we hope to help every child who applies to attend camp this Spring or Summer. If you’d like to participate in Coins for Campers through your organization or business, contact Janet Diel at (818) 216-9377. A BCC Board Member is available to speak at one of your functions.
As a 501 (c) 3, your donation is tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Tax ID number is 95-6116051, and remember, 100% of your money goes directly to the camps. Call us (818) 216-9377, email email@example.com or visit our website www.burbankcc.org. You may donate through PayPal on the website too.
Thank you for changing children’s lives.
Janet Diel, President/Campership Chairman
